Saba Saba Morning Calm.
Nairobi’s Central Business District was calm as preparations for the Saba Saba Rally set for Uhuru Park went on amidst a heavy Police presence.
The park was cordoned off to allow for screening of persons entering or passing through. The screening was conducted by regular police as well as National Youth Service Staff.
Police presence
The calm was however slightly disrupted when a huge contingent of apparent Rally goers stormed the City passing the Uhuru Park grounds up along Kenyatta Avenue and into the City Centre – destination was not clear.
Elsewhere the City was quiet, with no usual traffic jams along the main roads such as Kenyatta Avenue, Moi Avenue, Haile Selassie, Uhuru Highway and Mombasa Road.
Central Business District
There was plenty of empty parking spaces in the City an indication that many Nairobians preferred to leave their personal cars and us Matatus or did not come not town at all.
The Screening
This was the situation as at 12.00hrs, the Rally is expected to kick off at 15.00hrs
