Kenya’s Daniel Wanjiru and Mary Keitany defy odds to win the London Marathon 2017

Kenyans to dominate the London Marathon

Watching Daniel Wanjiru cruise to victory at the London Marathon, brought back happy memories of the late Kenya’s  Athlete Samuel Wanjiru .  Daniel defied all odds  beating Ethiopia’s Bekele one of the well known names in the Marathon. Daniel a 24 year old finished in 2:05:48 just seconds away from Bekele.

Daniel a very well spoken young man articulate his race strategy citing team work and incredible work out regime . His is certainly one to watch in the future of Kenya’s long distance races.

Mary Keitany won the women race making history in London to finish at 2:17 :01 .  She credited God and the great weather for her win.

Mary Keitany of Kenya has broken Paula Radcliffe’s women’s-only world record to win the London Marathon on Sunday.

Keitany, 35, crossed the finish line on The Mall in two hours 17 minutes one second, the second-fastest time in history.

That was 41 seconds quicker than four-time British Olympian Radcliffe ran in winning the event in 2005
