Kenyan shilling firms against the dollar, helped by remittances

The Kenyan shilling
strengthened against the dollar on Friday due to inflows from
diaspora remittances and tightening liquidity in the money
market, traders said.
At 0830 GMT, commercial banks quoted the shilling at
100.30/50 per dollar, compared with 100.50/70 at Thursday's
close.
The weighted average daily interbank lending rate stood at
5.5351 percent on Thursday up from 5.0561 percent in the
previous session.
