Deepest Sorrows and Condolences – John Small CEO Eastern Africa Association.

The Eastern Africa business community are deeply saddened by the death of the region’s leading supporter the late John Small who passed away suddenly on the 14/7/2020. John was the chief executive officer of the Eastern Africa Association, a network of businesses operating in East Africa.

John was born in Kenya and attended primary school in the country before going to the UK for his secondary schooling and then on to Cambridge University .He qualified as a Management Accountant following his degree, having worked as a Financial Analyst with the Ford Motor Company. His first posting abroad was with the Commonwealth Development Corporation on an Oil Palm project in Popondetta in Papua New Guinea as the Chief Accountant.

In 1980, John returned to Kenya with his young family where he took up a position as the Management Accountant at Mumias Sugar Company in Western Kenya. In 1984 he accepted a position in Nairobi at East African Packaging Industries, where he worked for 15 years, the last 7 years of which were as the C.E.O. of the company. In 1999 the family returned to the UK, by now with three sons, and John became the C.E.O. of The Eastern Africa Association, a position he still holds.

Our deepest sorrows to John’s family and Friends.
